Baptistery

A Jewel of Medieval Architecture

The Baptistery of San Giovanni is one of the oldest and most iconic buildings in Florence. Located in front of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, this octagonal masterpiece is renowned for its stunning mosaics, rich history, and the magnificent bronze doors—including the famous Gates of Paradise by Lorenzo Ghiberti.

Dating back to the 11th century, the Baptistery blends Romanesque architecture with Byzantine artistic influence. Its interior dome, adorned with golden mosaics, is a breathtaking display of medieval craftsmanship that continues to inspire awe in visitors from around the world.
